October 19th, 2013
Iowa City is alive in the spiritual and metaphysical world as the 1st annual Metaphysical Expo took place at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Iowa City.
There were a variety of vendors who come from various backgrounds in spiritual health to physical and mental health to paranormal investigations. The expo also consisted of public speakers who covered various topics for folks who wanted to learn more about what is happening around them.
Illusions Healing Center from Cedar Rapids was on site and talking with visitors about the variety of holistic services they offer, in talking with the owner, she is really hoping that a similar center can be established in Iowa City so more people can have access to similar holistic services in eastern Iowa. Jenn Luna Wolf was making her presence known by representing Prairie Earth Society and Eastern Iowa Pagan Pride, and at mid day the coordinator of the expo had stated there were approximately 250 visitors who had attended the expo which I would call a total win for the area and for this being a first annual event. She had also stated that plans for next year are already in the works and they plan to use two buildings for more vendors and more class area space for public speakers.
I am very happy to see my home state of Iowa coming alive in the spiritual realms and to see groups coming together and working together to make things bigger and better for people wanting to learn more and explore their own spirituality.
My hats off to Cat SInclair as she did a wonderful job at putting together this expo.
Great Job ladies !! I look forward to seeing you in the future!!

Pagan Pride in Iowa 2013
This year marked not only another great event in Des Moines IA with Pagan Pride which took place on September 28th in Union Park where we had to contend with wind and rain through out most of the day, but all of our vendors stuck it out and stayed with us! We had a good number of folks from the surrounding area who visited our festival and got to watch the Brotherhood of Steel perform some of their battles and we all got a kick out of the herald for the group who was very comical hisself. Overall this was a great day and I look forward to the future plan of a 3 day campout for Pagan Pride in the upcoming years.
Two weeks later, October 12th marked the first annual Pagan Pride in Cedar Rapids, IA which took place at Ellis Park in Cedar Rapids. I must say that I was very impressed with Jenn Luna Wolf for organizing this event in just a few short months and have it be a successful and warm day for everyone involved. There were some workshops, a native american flutist played for us, several vendors including one who was vending for the very first time as a pottery maker. Jules Pottery also provided some clay for kids to create their own projects and after talking with the owner, she too is a fellow SCA'er and a part of the Brotherhood of Steel so I look forward to seeing her again at future events.
I was also present to take care of media and be one of the spokespersons and DJ for the event. I am very proud to be able to serve my community in providing my services to any Pagan Pride event anywhere in Iowa, so I strongly encourage other areas to also start planning a local Pagan Pride event for your nearby areas.
Iowa has a great pagan community and with more people coming out to take part in festivals, it speaks loudly that there are alot more pagans all over Iowa and want to show their pride and support so I say to them, form groups, coffee cauldrons, hold open rituals or sabbats to let others around you know that you are there for them!!
Lets make sure that 2014 is even bigger for my home state of Iowa!!
I am pagan and I am proud!!

Discussion with Melanie Marquis who is one of the members of the planning committee for Denver Pagan Pride which is coming up shortly.
Melanie talked about what she is doing to make Denver PPD a success and what they plan to do for the future as well
She is also a well known writter/author of some books that can be found on Llewellyn worldwide.
Look for these book titles A Witch's Bag Of Tricks and A Witch's World Of Magick once it is released in 2014
Lindsay and I talked about the recent outbreak of groups that have popped up on Facebook targeting pagans and witches with hate speech and threats of violence by some individuals in Africa.
These groups have since been removed by Facebook after several hundred pagans and witches filed complaints with Facebook to have these groups taken down even though Facebook claims it did not violate their policies but yet pictures of women breastfeeding get removed alomost immediately? I truly believe there is a failure within Facebook to realize what is and what is not hate speech that is followed by credible threats of violence against people.
